The sonata has been attributed to Franz Xaver Hammer on the basis of the handwriting and of an inscription «A. Hammer» near the title, but it is closely related to the first sonata of VI sonate per viola e basso by Andreas Lidl (F-Pn Vm7 6298, see), especially of the first and third movements (for details see Flassig F., Die solistische Gambenmusik in Deutschland im 18. Jahrhundert, Göttingen, Cuvillier Verlag, 1998, p. 231).
