Some modern studies and editions suggest that the 3 Simphonies by Louis Couperin, copied on the following pages of the same manuscript, could also be intended for viols. The structure especially of the Simphonie in F major, with its internal parts coming and going and some chords not playable on the viola da gamba, is however clearly intended for a keyboard instrument.
