There are versions of the same quartet in which the viola da gamba is replaced by a viola da braccio: D-B KHB M 1900/2; D-B KHB M 1901; D-B SA 3371; D-B SA 3389. In the Amalienbibliothek copy, the part is called «Viola da Gamba» to which a different hand has added the words «e viola».
