Pieces (dances, chorales, airs etc.) for viol solo, some probably for 2 viols
F-Pn ms. Rés. 1111
Wallhall (selected pieces), Güntersberg (selected pieces), Atelier Philidor
The manuscript as a whole is most probably of German origin because it contains numerous transcriptions of German chorales and songs; it includes, however, pieces by composers of various nationalities.
Although the manuscript preserves the part for a single viola da gamba, it must be assumed that some pieces are for two viols, since on the existing part it is written "Erste Violdigamb" and some of them includes rests of more than one bar.
Most of the manuscript is notated in tablature, it involves many different scordaturas. Some of the pieces written in staff notation are in scordatura as well; in this case, the notes on the untuned strings are written shifted.
