The instrumental destination with viola da gamba is known from the «Verzeichnisse von Musikalien, die verschiedene Schulbediente nachgelassen haben», the catalogues of the musical collection of the St. Michaelisschule in Lüneburg, published by Max Seiffert (see bibliography). The piece is most probably identical with the cantata Ich halte es dafür, daß dieser zeit Leiden, BuxWV 48, which has the same title, the same vocal destination and the same tonality, but an instrumental destinations without viola da gamba.
