The piece features three unspecified instruments, two treble instruments in treble clef and one bass instrument in bass, tenor, alto and soprano clef. Although this part does not have any stringent idiomatic elements, it is nonetheless plausible – given the overall extension (D-c’’) and the similarity to the part explicitly for viol in «Gott ist getreu» by the same author – that it was intended for viola da gamba.
