The composition of the cantata must date back to the years 1774-1775 when Tozzi was Hofkapellmeister of the Elector of Bavaria Maximilian III Joseph, a viola da gamba player. The libretto is by Maximilian's sister, Maria Antonia Walpurgis, wife of Elector Frederick Christian of Saxony.
