The cantatas are copied from Tommaso Bernardo Gaffi, Cantate da Cammera a Voce sola Dedicate all'Illustrissimo Signor Marchese Francesco Maria Ruspoli da Bernardo Gaffi Organista della Chiesa del Giesù in Roma. Opera Prima, Roma, 1700, nn. 1, 2, 6, 8 and 12. Gaffi, in the preface to his collection, explains that the obligato part of the cantatas can be played by a violin, a violone (i. e. a violoncello in the Roman terminology of his time) or by the harpsichord.
