"Nasce la pena mia": IMSLP
The instrumental indication of both pieces is «Met 2 Fioolen of Fioolen de Gamba en ander Speel-tuygh te gebruycken». The range of the two parts necessitates a treble and a bass instrument. Some idiomatic elements suggest that the upper part is primarily intended for the violin and not the viola da gamba.
Nasce la pena mia are diminutions on the homonym madrigal by Alessandro Striggio.
