The overall range of the two viola da gamba is c-e’’; one single chord in the viola da gamba 1 part is g-d’-g’, possible on a tenor viol tuned in A as well as on a bass viol. The parts could therefor be theoretically suitable as well for alto-tenor viols.
The part for violoncello has basso continuo figures.
