The transcription had been compiled by Mente for the Count of Zierotin, his pupil; it's known only thanks to Mente's short autobiography, published by Johann Mattheson in his "Grundlage einer Ehrenpforte" on p. 419. From this passage it is not possible to deduce which instrument or instruments accompanied the viol.
