The manuscript bears no indication of composer, form, or instrumentation. The attribution to Hardt is based on calligraphic and stylistic inferences.
The instrumentation is deduced from some idiomatic viol chords in the upper part which is written, as usual in Hardt’s treble viol pieces, in French violin clef and octavizing bass clef.
