In the ms. C.78 this sonata follows the 6 sonatas for 2 bass viols by Benjamin Hely, but is written by a different hand and without the signing “B. H.”, it has no information on instrumentation. In GB-Lbl add. ms. 64965 the sonata is attributed to Becker; the parts are labelled Violino , Viola , and Basso . With Viola for a bass instrument, viola da gamba or violoncello may be intended..
