VIOLANET, a three-year project supported by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, is a network of viola da gamba professors and students from universities and institutes of higher musical education that promotes the exchange of teaching methods and research. The project is promoted by the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole (Italy) and involves the Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Hague (Netherlands), the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon (France), the Mozarteum in Salzburg (Austria), the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique de Vigo (Spain) and the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar (Germany).
Main activities of VIOLANET are:
meetings in Vigo (2019), Salzburg (2019), Den Haag (2021), Fiesole (2021) and Lyon (2021) with masterclasses, conferences, teacher and student trainings events, luthiers’ workshops;
specialisation laboratories on the Viola da Gamba on special topics of instrumental technique, didactics, reading technique, interpretation and composition for the viola da gamba, within the single institutions and in collaboration with other of its classes;
creation of a Digital Resource Centre, in order to increase the knowledge on the Viola da Gamba and to promote the research on its repertoire;

Vigo. Teaching to teach
A project by Sara Ruiz and the Viola da gamba class of CSMVigo. It trains viol students in pedagogy and offers free musical lessons to children in order to create an academy of young violists in Vigo.
